Agents, teams and seats

An agent

An agent is a persona, instructions, a model and a memory setting, bound to a registered identity, an access profile and a passport. Build is where it is authored and versioned; activating it publishes a version and seals it.

  • Runtime. By default an agent runs inside Xybern on the model you pick (DeepSeek V4.1 Flash by default; Claude Sonnet 5.5 when a key is configured and the workspace allows it). An agent created with runtime "outside Xybern" is your own program holding the seat through the SDK; see connectors and external seats.
  • Tools are granted by name. Built in: web search, record a decision, remember, recall, propose a mandate, propose an access profile. Connector tools arrive with the connectors you grant.
  • Access profile. On activation Xybern derives the least privilege box from the job description. Every call is checked against it. The profile can only be narrowed by a proposal an agent makes; a person signs.
  • Memory is the agent's own: checkpoints of every conversation, typed entries, lessons from meetings, a standing memory rebuilt nightly. It is read in every prompt and is not a destination in the product; an admin reaches it from the agent's drawer.

A team

A team is a charter: a purpose, a rhythm, an owner and a roster. Seating an agent issues a thirty day warrant with the charter pinned and adds the team tools to its profile; removing the seat revokes both. Seated agents carry two blocks in memory, the charter and the board, kept current by the workspace.

The Rules tab holds:

  • Card missions. A card handed between agents compiles into a mission. When it asks for nothing beyond the holder's profile it is approved automatically under that profile; a person can still reject it. A team can require a person for every mission.
  • Slack mirror. Bind the team to a channel; see connectors.
  • Rhythms. Days and an hour at which a message is posted into the room in the owner's name, or a meeting is held with an agent chair. The team runs on its rhythm without a person typing.

The Reach tab shows what the room can reach as a whole before it opens: action families, what is allowed and what asks first, who each seat may instruct, standing authority, and the authority model's findings that name the seats.
